Choirs from L'Anse Creuse High School and High School North will appear as featured groups in the "Tim Janis: Celebrate America" special on March 7.
Viewers like you who tune into Detroit Public Television March 7 will see not one, but two L'Anse Creuse choirs featured on the station's 2013 "Tim Janis: Celebrate America" broadcast. This year, choirs from L’Anse Creuse High School, L’Anse Creuse High School North and a dozen other area schools join the Tim Janis Ensemble for Janis' annual PBS broadcast and pledge drive for Southeast Michigan. Janis is an American composer, conductor and producer whose annual "Celebrate America" specials on public television have featured more than 15,000 students from across the country to date. The Fifth Michigan Regimental Band will give a free performance at the Clinton-Macomb Public Library main branch Sunday, Jan. 13, at 2 p.m.
Clinton-Macomb Public Library patrons have an opportunity to travel back in time today courtesy of a performance by the Fifth Michigan Regimental Band. Part of the library's "Music at Main" Sunday concert series, this particular performance has been booked to complement the main library's current exhibit, Lincoln: The Constitution and the Civil War. Donning period attire and using antique and replica sax horns and wood rope tension drums, members of the band take great care to bring the history of the Civil War era alive for their audience. The performance will include a program of pre-1865 compositions, instruments, attire, flags, and customs of the era. The concert, which begins at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, is free and open to all ages. …

Mickenna Keller of Macomb Township will perform this weekend in the Civic Experience concert as part of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's Civic Youth Ensembles training program.
A Macomb Township teen will join hundreds of Detroit area children this weekend in the Civic Experience concert at the Max M. Fisher Music Center in Detroit. Mickenna Keller, 13, of Macomb Township, will play the oboe in the fall Civic Experience, an annual civic youth ensemble performance showcasing the work of students enrolled in the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's Civic Youth Ensembles training program, according to an article in The Detroit News. "This time last year, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life," said Keller in the Detroit News article. "Within the first three rehearsals, it changed my life completely. It is so inspiring. Rescheduled from last week, Macomb Township's last Sizzlin' Summer Night of the season will take place tonight with Jimmy Buffett tribute band Air Margaritaville on stage at the Town Center Park. The township's parks and recreation department promises fun for the whole family with Air Margaritaville supplying the music and event sponsors offering refreshments, inflatables and KiDzOnE games to keep younger guests entertained. Macomb Patch will get its groove on and be standing by with several gallons of bubble liquid and numerous bubble wands to help guests shape some super suds. A Macomb teen spends the summer in China, the sounds of Jimmy Buffett fill Town Center Park and $60,000 in renovations to the township's sheriff sub-station top today's headlines.
