Macomb County motorists can expect delays this weekend on Groesbeck, as construction will prompt lane closures. According to the Michigan Department of Transportation, northbound and southbound Groesbeck Highway will have single- and double-lane closures between 13 Mile and Utica roads beginning 5 a.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday for utility work. During the project, which covers 3.4 miles of pavement between 14 Mile and Hayes roads, two lanes will be open in each direction during peak travel times.
Motorists from Macomb Township heading south to central Macomb County beware, six months of road work on Groesbeck between 14 Mile and Hayes roads is scheduled to start this week. Crews will begin a $13.5 million resurfacing project on Monday, March 18, and the Michigan Department of Transportation predicts the orange barrels will stay out through October. Construction is due to take place in two stages, starting with southbound Groesbeck and finishing with the northbound side. Work will include drainage and utility upgrades, as preliminary signal work has already been completed. Construction on Romeo Plank Road north of Hall is causing headaches for local drivers as the major thoroughfare has been reduced to one lane in each direction. Orange barrels have littered the area all week and are expected to remain in place until Saturday morning at the latest, according to the Macomb County Department of Roads. Road crews are reconstructing the road and were pouring the last of the new concrete on Thursday. One lane should remain open in each direction for the duration of the project.

Construction continues all along I-94 in Macomb County, with multiple lane and ramp closures scheduled throughout the weekend.
Summer may be coming to an end but construction is scheduled to continue in Macomb for a few months yet. Ongoing road work will reduce eastbound and westbound I-94 to a single lane between 23 Mile and County Line roads from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for ongoing road work. A single lane will also be closed on the ramp from eastbound I-94 to 23 Mile Road until early September for crews to add an additional turn lane on the ramp. The county can spend all that money on a road that is still in very good shape but they want to charge the residents on Cimarron to pay for what the school busses have destroyed. What a waste of tax payers money.   more ›
