Judging by the packed auditorium and thunderous applause, Dakota's third annual "Dancing with the Stars" was a success enjoyed by all.
After more than a dozen performances and even more of Interim Superintendent/emcee Ron Roberts' humorous observations and subtle barbs toward the judges, the winner of the third annual "Dancing with the Stars" was announced. Combining country linedancing with hip hop, the performance of Dakota High School teacher Jeff Dolan and his instructor Tera Van Tiem garnered the most votes and the pair took home two discoball trophies to show for their efforts. The event's celebrity judges included Mark Santia (WDIV reporter), Mario Impemba (Tigers play-by-play voice for Fox Sports Detroit) and Mary Skiba (owner of Mary Skiba’s School of Dance). Proceeds from the event directly benefit the Dakota band program.

The third annual fundraiser and show featured local celebrities such as Fox Sports' Mario Impemba, WDIV's Marc Santia and Chippewa Valley's Ron Roberts.
There are very few events that can persuade respected members of the community to don tap shoes and bust a move in front of a live audience, but Dakota’s Dancing with the Stars continues to achieve this feat year after year. On Friday, the Dakota High School band program hosted its third annual Dancing with the Stars fundraiser. Dakota teachers and local celebrities showcased their hidden talents and thrilled audiences with their performances of carefully choreographed dance numbers. “This is an all-out event that encompasses the taste of all the community,” said Christie Forbes-Green, event organizer and Dakota parent. “Local celebrities come from all over the community, internally and outside, and it’s a show. It’s something the …

Celebrity judges and performers will share their talents with the Macomb community Friday for the third annual "Dancing with the Stars" event to benefit the Dakota band program.
This season of ABC's Dancing with the Stars may be over, but the third annual Dakota High School version of the popular show is back and boasts a celebrity cast of its own. Organized by the Dakota band program’s parent volunteers, the show begins Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the Dakota auditorium. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors if bought in advance. At the door, an extra $5 is added to the price. All proceeds benefit the Dakota band program. “People can always buy cookie dough and Morley Candy, but this is something so unique and so different,” said Christie Forbes-Green, event chair and Dakota band parent. “It is not just a product being purchased. We actually have students performing during the event. We showcase …
