Hockey season is finally here, but Patch readers are split on whether or not they'll be going to a game this season.
With the NHL lockout officially over, the Detroit Red Wings have announced their 2013 schedule. The Wings will play 48 games in 99 days as Detroit looks to extend its 21-season playoff streak, the longest current streak in professional sports. Tickets to all 24 of the Red Wings’ 2013 home games are set to go on sale this coming Thursday, Jan. 17, beginning at 1 p.m. Patch readers were split on whether or not they'll support the Wings season after the lockout, which lasted for nearly four months amidst union disputes. In a Jan. 6 poll on Patch, 50 percent of readers said they plan to watch the NHL when it returns, but 28 percent said they'll skip it. The remaining 21 percent are opting to wait for baseball season. The NHL and Players' Union reportedly have reached an agreement to end the lockout. While there is an agreement to return to work, will you return to watch the NHL?
Labor peace may finally be returning to the NHL after the league and players reportedly reached an agreement to end the 113-day lockout, the Huffpost Detroit reported. The league will reportedly try to schedule a 48-game season. When hockey returns, will you watch? Share your opinion in our poll?

PB's Sports Grille in St. Clair Shores will take a step back in time tonight at 6:30 p.m. to the heights of the Detroit Red Wings-Colorado Avalanche rivalry for a "Relive the Rivalry" viewing party. Ken Kal, a St. Clair Shores resident and Detroit Red Wings announcer, will host the event which features "Grind Line" member Darren McCarty and a showing of the March 26, 1997, game between the two teams. The game is memorable for the for the 11 goals, 148 penalty minutes and a brawl that included all the players on the ice - including the goalies. The event, hosted by the Detroit Red Wings, starts at 6:30 p.m. with a showing of the game at 7:30 p.m. McCarty will mingle with patron, sign autographs and take part in a question and answer session…

Former Red Wing Nicklas Lidstrom's house at 47725 Bellagio Drive in Novi has been sold, according to Realtor John Goodman. The house, which was built in 2004, was listed for $2.9 million, but Goodman said the house was not sold for the full listing price. The home had been on the market for 21 days, according to AOL Real Estate. Goodman could not release the name of the person who bought the house, who he said made a cash offer and is filling out the paperwork Tuesday. Goodman said the sale was the highest sale in Bellagio, but could not release the purchase price. The house in Bellagio is 6,956 square feet and is in the Northville School District. Lidstrom announced his retirement from the team in May after playing in the NHL for 20 seasons. Red Wings Assistant General Manager Jim Nill said Sunday that Lidstrom will remain with the organization as a scout, most likely in Europe, according to the website. The Detroit Red Wings announced they will be holding a press conference Thursday morning with defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom and general manager Ken Holland. So the big question on everyone's mind is, is Lidstrom retiring? Lidstrom, 42, lives in Novi with his family during the hockey season and has been debating whether to retire after playing for 20 seasons in the NHL.
