Dakota Hockey Awaits Ike in Regional Semis

After overtime victory over Rochester Adams, Dakota gears up for MAC Red Division rival Eagles in state playoffs.

Thanks to Matt Riehl’s heroics, Dakota’s hockey team stayed alive in the state tournament. Now the Cougars must prepare for a showdown against Eisenhower on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Mount Clemens Ice Arena. Riehl scored in overtime to lift Dakota to a 4-3 victory over Rochester Adams on Monday, according to MIPrepZone. Dakota, No. 9 in the Division 1 state coaches poll, shared the MAC Red Division championship with Eisenhower this season. Now the Cougars and the Eagles will vie in the Division 1 regional semifinals. At stake will be a berth in the regional championship game Saturday, March 2.

Dakota, LCN, Lutheran North, Henry Ford Hold, Ike Orientations, Registration This Week

Macomb Township's high schools will host their Cougar Days, Crusader Days, Eagle Days and other 2012-13 orientation events this week.

All students will be taking their school I.D. picture and receiving their cards during Cougar Days. Students may purcahse a 2012-13 Student Activities Card for $35. This Student Activities' Card Application must be filled out and brought to Cougar Days with payment. Eagles Fly to Round 2 of the Football Playoffs

The Eisenhower football team shut out Dakota 35-0 in state playoff opener.

Eisenhower defeated Dakota for the second time this high school football season, this time taking a 35-0 victory over the Cougars on Friday night in a Division 1 playoff game. After beating Dakota 33-21 just a few weeks ago, Eisenhower coach Bob Lantzy and his high-flying Eagles knew the Cougars would be out for revenge. But not on this given night. Nobody was going to come in to the Eagles home field and take them out of the playoffs. The scoring started on the first offensive drive, which finished with a strike from quarterback Joey Zerafa to Dan Chmielewski. The Eagles didn't let up all night. Eisenhower, Dakota to Meet Again on Football Field

Eagles and Cougars will have rematch in first round of high school football playoffs.

Eisenhower and Dakota will face off again in the first round of the state high school football playoffs, the MHSAA announced Oct. 23. Eisenhower, the champion of the MAC Red Division, defeated Dakota 33-21 in the regular season. Eisenhower is 8-1 overall, and Dakota is 6-3. The two teams will meet in the playoff game at Utica High School's Swinehart Field at 7 p.m. Friday

Eisenhower, Dakota Battle in Big High School Football Game

Eagles and Cougars will meet Friday night in a showdown between the top two teams in the MAC Red Division.

Friday night’s high school football game between Dakota and Eisenhower provides big excitement. The game, which kicks off at 7 p.m. at Utica’s Swinehart Field, will feature the two top teams in the MAC Red Division. The winner will take sole possession of first place and hold the inside track for the league championship. In addition, Eisenhower will celebrate its homecoming. That’s big. Dakota and Eisenhower are powerful programs led by successful coaches. The Eagles’ Bob Lantzy has won 298 games in his career, and Mike Giannone has led the Cougars to two state championships.
