Six Detroit Lions will visit Jack Harvey Elementary School Tuesday to present a $10,000 fitness grant.
Christmas is coming early for Jack Harvey Elementary School students Tuesday when six Detroit Lions players visit the Utica Community School to present a $10,000 NFL grant. The NFL Play 60 grant will be used for the school’s health and wellness programming and equipment. Jack Harvey was the only school in Michigan to receive the grant. The NFL PLAY 60 Super School contest selected one school in each of the 32 NFL markets and two non-NFL markets to receive the cash. In addition to the cash, the winning schools get one-on-one time with NFL players. Nash, the owner of Body N Balance fitness center, will be talking about getting in shape, weight loss and making 2012 your healthiest year ever.
Lisa Nash isn't your typical personal trainer. Less Zumba and more military, Nash is the owner of Dearborn's Body N Balance fitness center. Opened in 2006, Body N Balance was "originally designed for women and those who don’t feel comfortable in a traditional gym," Nash describes on her website. "It’s more of a cardio fitness center geared toward weight loss, endurance and cardio strength." Nash has trained local police and fire personnel, as well as service members in the U.S. Marine Corps. Needless to say, her gym ain't just a place for girls to lose a few unwanted pounds. The fitness franchise known for its 24/7 year-round availability is setting up shop in Macomb Township.
Local exercise buffs will soon have a new facility to serve their workout needs with the arrival of Anytime Fitness in Macomb Township. The international fitness franchise Anytime Fitness is moving into a 5,000-square-foot storefront in Macomb's Waldenburg Plaza, located in the southeast corner of 22 Mile and Romeo Plank. Still under construction, the facility is not expected to open until mid or late November, but once it does open, members will be able to access it 24 hours a day, seven days a week and 365 days a year.
