Too Little, Too Late for Dakota Football in Regional Playoff

Lake Orion avenges three postseason losses since 2004 versus Cougars.

LAKE ORION — Dakota High School ended its playoff run Friday, falling to Lake Orion 51-35 in the MHSAA Division 1 football quarter-final.  The Dragons lead scoring in the first half and entered halftime with a 31-7 lead. While the Cougars answered with double touchdowns in the third and fourth quarters, the team was unable to break the Dragons' momentum.  Dakota will finish its season 10-2. The star: Dragons senior tailback Jacob Miller stood up when he was most needed and ran past the ghosts of Lake Orion football past — which had lost three times in the playoffs at the hands of Dakota since 2004. Miller scored three second-quarter touchdowns, including a spectacular run up the middle for a 69-yard touchdown, and accumulated 224 yards on …

Dakota Falls to Lake Orion, 51-35, in State Quarter-Final Matchup

Dakota High School will finish its postseason with a 10-2 record.

Dakota High School ended its playoff run Friday, falling to Lake Orion 51-35 in the MHSAA Division 1 football quarter-final.  The Dragons lead scoring in the first half and entered halftime with a 31-7 lead. While the Cougars answered with double touchdowns in the third and fourth quarters, the team was unable to break the Dragons' momentum.  Dakota will finish its season 10-2. The Dragons (11-1) go on to face Cass Tech in the semi-finals Nov. 17.

Dakota Out-Posts LCN in School Spirit Photo Contest; Final Tally 260-75

A total of 335 photos were uploaded to Macomb Patch during the week-long school spirit photo contest between Dakota High School and L'Anse Creuse North.

In contests against cross-town rival L'Anse Creuse North, Dakota High School proved the victor both on and off the field Friday night.  In football, the Cougars defeated the Crusaders 42-17 to continue to round three of the Division 1 state playoffs. In school spirit, Cougar Nation also took home the win, uploading a total of 260 photos to North's 75 in Macomb Patch's week-long school spirit photo contest. Cougars Conquer Crusaders 42-17 to Continue State Championship Quest

Dakota High School dealt a second playoff defeat to L'Anse Creuse North Friday, sending the Crusaders home and securing a place in the regional final of the MHSAA playoffs next week.

Victory was on the side of the Cougars Friday, as Dakota High School defeated L'Anse Creuse North 42-17 to continue to round three of the MHSAA football playoffs. The final score was eerily reminiscent of the teams' 2007 meeting, when Dakota defeated LCN 42-16 in the first round of that year's playoffs. Dakota overcame a first half deficit and ultimately defeated the Crusaders to advance in the postseason and face the Lake Orion Dragons next week in the state quarter-finals. The place and time of this game has not been announced. Coming off of their first playoff win in school history, LCN was looking to upset the heavily favored Cougars. Macomb Township will be divided tonight as Dakota High School and L'Anse Creuse North battle to remain in the MHSAA football playoffs. The Cougars will have home-field advantage, but Crusader Nation has five years of hunger to satisfy. LCN last made it to the playoffs in 2007, losing to Dakota, 42-16. Dakota knocked off its cross-town rival, Chippewa Valley High School, by a score of 17-7 on Oct. 26 to come out on top in the first round of the playoffs. Dakota Versus L'Anse Creuse North: Show Us Your Spirit!

The Macomb Township high schools go head-to-head in round two of the state football playoffs this Friday. But which has the most school spirit? Patch is hosting a photo contest this week to find out once and for all.

"We've got spirit, yes we do, we've got spirit, how about you?" Dakota High School and L'Anse Creuse North are looking to settle a score on the football field this Friday, as the high schools go head-to-head in round two of the MHSAA playoffs. The Cougars defeated district rival Chippewa Valley High School in round one, while the Crusaders stole their first-ever playoff win from Romeo. Dakota and L'Anse Creuse North last faced each other in the playoffs in 2007 – a battle the Cougars won. Now the two Macomb Township high schools are due to meet again and Patch wants to know which has the best supporters? Crusaders Top Bulldogs in First Round of State Playoffs

L'Anse Creuse North defeated Romeo 35-21 Oct. 26 to move on to the second round of the MHSAA football playoffs.

The L’Anse Creuse North Crusaders knocked off the Romeo Bulldogs Friday night in the first round of the state playoffs. The Crusaders won by a score of 35-21 as they captured their first postseason win in school history. At halftime, the game was all knotted up at 14 between the Crusaders and Bulldogs. LCN stormed out to a 35-14 lead in the second half, however, and their 21 unanswered points proved to be too much to overcome as the Bulldogs fell by a final score of 35-21. The Crusaders stay in Macomb Township for round two, but head into Cougars territory as they face Dakota Friday night at 7 p.m. in the District Finals. Dakota High School dealt a 17-7 defeat to Chippewa Valley in the first round of the MHSAA football playoffs Oct. 26.

Cross-town rivals, Dakota High School and Chippewa Valley High School faced off in the much anticipated first round of the state football playoffs Friday night. The Cougars came out on top in this year’s district semi-finals by a score of 17-7, earning the right to face L’Anse Creuse North next week for the District Championship.
