Man Convicted in Macomb Murder Named One of State's Worst Offenders

The Detroit Free Press has named Joseph Reiner one of Michigan's five worst parole and probation offenders, according to Michigan Department of Corrections and court records.

The Fraser man convicted of murdering a 69-year-old Macomb Township woman is among five of the worst parole and probation offenders in Michigan, according to The Detroit Free Press.  Using information from the Michigan Department of Corrections and court records, the Free Press named five men, including Joseph Reiner, as the state's worst offenders. A jury found 29-year-old Reiner guilty of first-degree murder, assault with intent to murder and home invasion on Sept. 14. These charges stem from the stabbing and subsequent death of Joann Eisenhardt on Feb. 23, 2011. Records show Reiner began breaking into homes in 2003 and by 2006, had been sent to prison on four convictions of home invasion and assault. During his time behind bars, he was …

Sheriff's Deputies Arrest Detroit Woman Under Prostitution Ordinance in Macomb

Sheriff's deputies arrest Detroit woman under prostitution ordinance On Sept. 25, at approximately 4:15 a.m., Macomb County sheriff's deputies arrested a 42-year-old Detroit woman in the area of Homestead Drive and Card Road under Macomb Township's ordinance for prostitution, according to the sheriff's office. The woman was a passenger in a vehicle being driven by a 25-year-old man from Flint, who was cited for driving on a suspended license. Labor Day weekend is a popular vacation time, but empty homes present far too easy prey for thieves.

As homeowners pack up and leave for the long Labor Day weekend, their empty homes present a tempting opportunity for thieves. With both Macomb and Clinton townships reporting multiple home invasions in the last several weeks, Patch reached out to Macomb County Sheriff's Det. Sgt. Melissa Stevens and Clinton Township Police Lt. David Dunn to get a few tips on how vacationing homeowners can best protect their homes. Dunn also suggests letting a trusted neighbor know you'll be going out of town and encourages residents to always call 911 whenver something seems suspicious in their neighborhood. "People are so hesitant about calling us and we miss so much that way," he said. "If their gut says something not right, let us come and check it out."

Dodge Caravan Stolen Near Hall and North Ave; Thieves Target Apple Products in Home Invasion

Dodge Caravan stolen from Gateway Drive On Aug. 27, at approximately 6:25 a.m., a homeowner in the 22000 block of Gateway Drive reported a 2001 Dodge Caravan had been stolen from the street in front of the home. Macomb man arrested for possession of child pornography A 45-year-old Macomb Township man was arrested Saturday for allegedly possessing child pornography, in one instance showing a victim as young as 6 years old. Daniel Joseph Morris was arraigned Monday in the 41-A District Court of Shelby Township on 10 counts of child pornography possession and one count of use of a computer communicating with another to commit a crime. These are both felonies, punishable by up to four and seven years in prison, respectively. Macomb Area Computer Enforcement detectives executed a search warrant of Morris' residence in Macomb Township, where they seized a computer and related material. Morris was arrested at his place of employment on July 14. He was …

Police Blotter: Sheriff Investigates Gaming Thefts, Unknown Persons

Video Gaming Theft Officers were called to a home in the 21000 block of Joliet Dr. on May 12 for a report of a home invasion that resulted in the theft of two video gaming systems. A teen girl who lives in the home confirmed the Sony PS3 and Xbox 360 were in the house when she arrived home from school at 2:30 p.m. However, when the girl's brother arrived home at 3:30 p.m., he noticed the systems missing. The girl had left a door unlocked for her brother, but did not see or hear anyone else enter the home. There were no signs of forced entry. The Xbox model number is BB11139458. Man Charged with Attempted Murder, Home Invasion in Macomb Stabbing

A 27-year-old man was arraigned in 41-A District Court Thursday in connection with a Macomb Township home invasion and stabbing.

 A 27-year-old Fraser man was arraigned Thursday on charges of attempted murder and home invasion. Joseph Reiner was arraigned by video in 41-A District Court by Judge Douglas Shepherd in connection with the Feb. 23 stabbing of a Macomb Township woman inside her home during a break-in. The court entered a not-guilty plea on Reiner's behalf after he stood mute. He will be appointed a public defender for his preliminary examination on April 14. If convicted of attempted murder, Reiner could face up to life in prison. Shepherd set a $1 million cash bond. Reiner is also a suspect in two home invasions in Grosse Pointe Farms, which took place Feb. 24 and 25 and involved the theft of a 1999 Acura, which Reiner was driving at the time of his …
