Derek Thomas Milbocker, 25, will face 10 felony counts of possession of child sexually abusive material in Michigan.
A 25-year-old Macomb Township man who attempted to bring child porn into Canada in March 2012—and was sentenced to jail time there—has been extradited to face 10 similar charges in Michigan. Derek Thomas Milbocker was arraigned Wednesday in 41-A District Court in Shelby Township on 10 felony counts of possession of child sexually abusive material, each count punishable by up to four years in prison. His bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety. The Sarnia Observer reported in October 2012 that Milbocker pleaded guilty in Sarnia, Ontario, to attempting to smuggle child pornography in Canada, possession of child pornography, and unlawfully importing child pornography at the Blue Water Bridge border crossing. The the case against Daniel Joseph Morris has been dismissed in district court to allow for federal prosecution.
Although his case was dismissed in district court, a 45-year-old Macomb Township man is now expected to face federal prosecution for allegedly possessing child pornography, in one instance showing a victim as young as 6 years old. Daniel Joseph Morris was originally arraigned in the 41-A District Court of Shelby Township on 10 counts of child pornography possession and one count of use of a computer communicating with another to commit a crime. The county prosecutor dismissed the charges without prejudice on Monday to allow federal prosecutors to bring their own charges against Morris. Two victims have been identified in Macomb County, but MACE investigators believe more area teens could have been in contact with the alleged sexual predator.
A 32-year-old Canton man is facing six felony charges following allegations that he repeatedly sent nude photos of himself to two Macomb County minors. The Macomb Area Computer Enforcement team arrested Taylor McCabe Best on Wednesday and charged him with six counts of felony crimes, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office. MACE investigators allege that Best sent explicit photos of himself to two known female victims–a 16-year-old from Washington Township and a 13-year-old from Bruce Township–and maintained unwanted contact through Facebook and texting.
