From an expansive ice arena to indoor water fun, Macomb Township boasts recreation options for families and individuals.

This state-of-the-art, 57,000-square-foot center has an indoor water park complete with two pools, water slide, lazy river and other features. There's a child watch room, teen game room, workout facilities, figure-eight running track and more. Figure skaters, hockey players and folks who just enjoy open ice time congregate at this sprawling arena next to the township rec center. Macomb Part-Time Parks and Rec Employees to Get Bump in Pay

The wage increase will cost Macomb Township approximately $9,800.

If you are a part-time Macomb Township Parks and Recreation Department employee, you soon will be seeing an increase in your paycheck.  The Board of Trustees approved a pay rate adjustment Dec. 12 for the township’s part-time Parks and Recreation employees. The increase will cost the township $9,800 and will go into affect Jan. 1 or July 1, depending on when minimum wage changes occur.  The Parks and Recreation Department employs 80-100 part-time employees depending on the season.  “In 2004, when the Recreation Center opened, our philosophy was to stay 25 cents above minimum wage for our base pay,” said Sal DiCaro, Parks and Recreation director. Macomb Rec Center Posts Hours, Closures for Fall/Winter 2012

The Aquatics Center will be closed from Tuesday, Sept. 4 to Friday, Sept. 7, with Gymnasiums A & B, Aerobics Room #1, and Tadpole Town (Child Watch) closed Tuesday, Sept. 4 to Sunday, Sept. 9.

The Macomb Township Recreation Center has posted its fall and winter hours for 2012. Sections of the center are scheduled to close in early September for cleaning and repairs and the entire center will shut down for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. If you're an avid visitor to the center, be sure to mark these dates on your calendar. Weekly Hours: The center will operate under modified hours on: Facility Hours: 6 a.m.-5 p.m.; Open Swim: Noon-4 p.m.; Lap Swim: 6 a.m-noon It will be closed on: The Aquatics Center and Locker Rooms will be closed from Tuesday, Sept. 4-Friday, Sept. 7, with Gymnasiums A & B, Aerobics Room #1, and Tadpole Town (Child Watch) closed Tuesday, Sept. 4-Sunday, Sept. 9.

The Macomb Township Recreation Center is the Readers' Choice pick for the best place for teens in Macomb Township.

Where's the best teen hangout in Macomb Township? The Macomb Township Recreation Center. At least that's what Patch readers have determined after the weeklong Readers' Choice quest for the best place to buy blumes in Macomb Township. The Macomb Township Recreation Center received 41 percent of votes in the poll, with His Rock Youth House coming in a close second with 29 percent. Macomb Rec Center's Mom 2 Mom Sale Offers 33 Tables of Kid, Baby Gear

Before heading to a Mom 2 Mom sale at the recreation center or elsewhere, check out Bargains to Bounty creator Jolyn Felten's top eight shopping tips, included below.

To help local parents outfit their kids without splitting their wallets, the Macomb Township Recreation Center is hosting a Mom 2 Mom sale on Saturday, April 21. The sale will open at 8:30 a.m. and run through 12:30 p.m. Admission is $1 per adult and whether you come at 8:30 a.m., or drop by right before the doors close, the price is the same. Macomb Township Parks & Recreation Program Director Michelle Duda said the sale will offer 33 tables of clothing, toys, bedding, baby equipment, games, furniture and more. There is no age restriction on the sale, but Duda added she expects sellers to focus on newborn through elementary school. “I am always so impressed with what people bring, sometimes even brand new items,” Duda said. “(Our sale) …

Staycation Monday: Relax Poolside at the Recreation Center

Staying in Macomb for spring break? Check Patch every day this week for a new family-friendly staycation idea.

While the temperature outside will be a little on the cool side, with a high near 55 degrees, according to the National Weather Service, you can bet it will be in the high 70s in the Macomb Township Recreation Center's aquatic center. Featuring the only public, nonschool pool in the community, the aquatic center boasts a feature pool and play structure for younger guests, a water slide, lazy river, log run, hot tub and lap pool. Residents can purchase a $5 daily pass ($10 for nonresidents) to use the entire recreation center, including the aquatic center. Lifeguards are always on duty. Monday's open swim is from noon to 4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. The water slide will be open from 6-9 p.m.

Hundreds of local families visited the Macomb Township Recreation Center Saturday to take part in the crafts, candy trail and petting zoo part of this year's Egg-Stravaganza event.

With some seven hundred tickets sold, the Macomb Township Recreation Center's 2012 "Egg-Stravaganza" lived up to its name Saturday, drawing dozens of families and businesses from across the township. During the two-hour event, children had time to take a photo with Mr. E Bunny, collect candy along the Hippity Hop Trail and visit with the cows, goats, pigs and sheep of Farmer John's petting zoo.  Did you take part in the Egg-Stravaganza? Macomb Parks & Rec 'Egg-Stravaganza' Expected to Sell Out

The Macomb Township Parks & Recreation Department anticipates it will sell out its March 24 Easter event again this year, with no tickets being sold at the door.

The secret to a sold-out event at the Macomb Township Recreation Center is undoubtedly the promise of free candy, but the added draw of crafts, live entertainment, refreshments and a family-friendly atmosphere certainly doesn't hurt. With only two weeks left until "Egg" Stravaganza, Macomb Township Parks & Recreation Program Leader Michelle Duda said she expects the department's annual March 24 Easter event will sell out again this year, as it has done without exception in years past.  A two-hour event packed with crafts, entertainment and refreshments for local families, the highlight of the event is without question the Hippity Hop Trail.
