Chippewa Bids Farewell to Custodian Couple, Elementary Clerk, Teacher

Chippewa Valley Schools recently recognized the retirement of Karen Brosch, Janet Nank, Dennis Edwards, Sheila Hull, and Bob and Denise LaRosa.

With their years of service combined, Chippewa Valley’s most recent group of retirees leave the district with more than 150 years among them. As custodians, teachers, clerks and bus drivers, Karen Brosch, Janet Nank, Dennis Edwards, Sheila Hull, and Bob and Denise LaRosa have touched the lives of thousands of children over the course of their roughly 25 years each. These contributions were recognized Monday with the official reading of their retirement resolutions by the Chippewa Valley school board. The district bids farewell to not one, but two of its head elementary school custodians with the retirement of Bob and Denise LaRosa. Mohawk Fifth Grader Makes Time to Recycle

Macomb Township student Alison Loepp was recently recognized by the county for her recycling efforts.

Philosophers say time is relative. Ten-year-old Alison Loepp says it’s recyclable. A fifth-grade student at Macomb Township’s Mohawk Elementary School, Loepp was recently named a winner in Macomb County Public Works Commissioner Anthony Marrocco’s “Imagine the Possibilities” contest for Macomb County fourth- and fifth-grade students. Per the guidelines of the contest, students were asked to make something new out of items that would otherwise end up in landfills. Loepp chose to build a clock. “We had a bag of old CDs on the counter and an old clock downstairs,” Loepp said. “I thought (a clock) would be easy to make and I could use it at home or in school.” With a little help from her step-dad, Loepp repaired the broken clock mechanism and …
