Metro Jazz Voices to Bring Four-Part Harmony to Concert Series at Clinton-Macomb Library

The Detroit-based group will perform jazz standards and popular favorites during a concert March 3 at the main library in Clinton Township.

The Clinton-Macomb Public Library's Music at Main Sunday concert series will swing into the world of jazz next month with a performance by four-part harmony vocal jazz ensemble, Metro Jazz Voices.  Based in Detroit, the group's program consists of jazz stardards and popular favorites sung in four-part harmony and accompanied by saxophone, piano, bass, flute and drums. The concert, scheduled for 2 p.m. March 3 at the main library on Romeo Plank Road, was made possible in part by an Arts and Humanities Touring Grant from the Michigan Humanities Council and Michigan Council for Arts & Cultural Affairs. Civil War Music Tops Today's Clinton-Macomb Library Concert

The Fifth Michigan Regimental Band will give a free performance at the Clinton-Macomb Public Library main branch Sunday, Jan. 13, at 2 p.m.

Clinton-Macomb Public Library patrons have an opportunity to travel back in time today courtesy of a performance by the Fifth Michigan Regimental Band. Part of the library's "Music at Main" Sunday concert series, this particular performance has been booked to complement the main library's current exhibit, Lincoln: The Constitution and the Civil War. Donning period attire and using antique and replica sax horns and wood rope tension drums, members of the band take great care to bring the history of the Civil War era alive for their audience. The performance will include a program of pre-1865 compositions, instruments, attire, flags, and customs of the era. The concert, which begins at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, is free and open to all ages. …

Would you like to boogie woogie? Who can resist a line like that? This Sunday, Feb. 12, blues master Matthew Ball is bringing his toe-tappin' boogie-woogie piano to the Clinton-Macomb Public Library's Music at Main concert series. The concert is free for everyone and runs approximately 70 minutes. Showtime is 2 p.m. at main, 40900 Romeo Plank, Clinton Twp., MI 48038. Ball's start in boogie began in 2001, after he attended a local boogie-woogie festival. He left his career as an attorney to become a blues and boogie woogie performing artist.
