Hey Michigan! This is week 13, and we're winding down our contest. There's still time to show us your state pride in photos and win one of our weekly prizes. We're looking 'Michigan' in content, tone and spirit.
Got a cool Michigan pic on your phone or digital camera? Enter up to three of them into the Your Patch of Michigan photo contest this week! You don't need to be a professional photographer to win. The single qualification for photos you submit is that they say "Michigan." If it oozes "Michigan," it qualifies. Each weekly winner will earn a prize, and we're in week 13, which runs through Aug. 27. The week 13 prize is a gift certificate for two weeks of boot camp at Starting Line Health & Fitness in Rochester Hills, valued a $100. This pairing of a classic car and a historic home is our winner for week 11 of our summer photo contest. You can still enter week 12 through Aug. 20, 2012!
With the hot rods of Dream Cruise driving all over town, this pairing of a classic car and historic home in Chelsea was our winner for week 11 of the 2012 Your Patch of Michigan photo contest. Reader Angela Powers says of her winning picture of an Auburn Boattail roadster and a historic home: "The photo was taken while we were on a day trip to Battle Creek. We, my husband, my 14 year old and 9 year old, stopped in Chelsea on the way home to do some geocaching. The color of the car complimented the house and I knew the photo would look really cool! A reader shared a photo of Mackinac Island on a rainy evening with Patch and took the prize for week 7 of our photo contest.
Reader Kathie Noonan captured rainy evening on Mackinac Island this spring during the Lilac Festival. She is the winner of week 7 of our Patch of Michigan Photo Contest, which saw about 100 entries. Noonan won a $50 gift card to Katherine Lynn Salon, located at the corner of Crooks Road and South Boulevard in Troy. Want a shot at winning? Enter week 8 through July 23. A nephew's hat tossed high in front of the high school after graduation was in a moment of triumph, and it won week 6 of our Your Patch of Michigan Photo Contest. The photo stood out among more than 100 entries.
Dearborn Patch reader Farid Sareini, who is the winner of week 6 of our Your Patch of Michigan Photo Contest, which saw more than 100 entries last week! Sareini won a Spa White teeth whitening service from WhiteScience Michigan, delievered via Margo’s of Northville valued at $199. Our judges—a panel of our Patch editors—liked the celebratory tone of the picture, and thought the angle was a unique way to capture the big moment. You can feel the photographer's pride. Double rainbow all the way! In this case, it means good luck for the reader who won week 5 of our Patch of Michigan Photo Contest.
Reader Cheryl Royster captured this double rainbow over Ore Lake, and it brought her good luck. She is the winner of week 5 of our Patch of Michigan Photo Contest, which saw about 100 entries. Royster won two pavilion tickets to the Santana concert at DTE Energy Music Theatre on July 15. Find out more about the concert via the DTE Energy Facebook page. Our judges liked the composition of the photo, and how it captured a still moment over what is usually a busy lake brimming with recreation — "it's pure Michigan," one of the judges said.
