One lucky reader and a friend will enjoy a free evening out at the 2012 Grub Crawl Wednesday night.
The winner of the 2012 Patch Spring Grub Crawl contest is Macomb Township resident Michael Schroeder. Schroeder and a friend will be gnashing on some free and delicious food April 25 at 10 Macomb County restaurants during the Sterling Heights Regional Chamber of Commerce-sponsored event. More than 30 people entered to win two free tickets to the eating extravaganza by telling Patch what their favorite restaurant in Macomb County is and why. To read viewer's responses, click here. Patch is giving away two free tickets to the Spring Grub Crawl.
It’s that time of year; when spring is in the air and the smell of gourmet food wafting from restaurants along the Hall Road corridor lures you in. Don’t fret, you don’t have to choose just one of the many delicious restaurants. Join the Sterling Heights Chamber of Commerce’s bi-annual Grub Crawl April 25 and sample the menu at 10 restaurants. Participating restaurants are: Tickets are being sold for $25 per person; $40 for two people or $150 for 10 people—alcohol is not included, but each restaurant will be offering drink specials. Metropolitan Cafe tops the Food Fight poll as the most romantic restaurant in Macomb County.
Looking for a romantic restaurant? Then try Metropolitan Cafe, which Patch users called the most romantic restaurant in Macomb County. Metropolitan Cafe, which is located at 52969 Van Dyke Ave. in Shelby Township, received 54 percent of the vote to win the Food Fight poll. Eastside Tavern in Mount Clemens finished second. Voting took place from Wednesday morning until Friday at 5 p.m. Congratulations, Metropolitan Cafe, and thanks to all who participated in the Food Fight by voting in the poll and leaving comments on the site. A survey of chefs around the country show locally grown ingredients, healthful kids' choices and sustainable fish rank highest among customers.
Restaurants sometimes surprise us with leading-edge cuisine, but owners and chefs know success depends mainly on pleasing the customer. A new national survey of 2012 menu trends gives high rankings to healthful kids’ meals, regional ingredients and fish that isn't endangered. "Locally sourced meats and seafood" and "locally grown produce" are the top two menu trend choices of nearly 1,800 chefs surveyed by the National Restaurant Association. Nutritious children's meals featuring whole grains, vegetables and fruit also will be on more menus, according to the online survey of American Culinary Federation members last fall.
