Alleged Drunken Driver Crashes into Vehicle, Sideswipes Police Car

The New Haven driver was arrested on suspicion of operating while intoxicated and carrying a concealed weapon.

Chesterfield Township police are investigating a three-car accident involving a sheriff's patrol car late Wednesday at the St. Clair County-Macomb County border, according to the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office. At approximately, 11:15 p.m., a St. Clair County Sheriff's patrol vehicle was traveling westbound on Marine City Highway en route to Interstate 94.  "The car was heading through the intersection of County Line Road when a vehicle heading eastbound went into the turn lane, struck a vehicle from behind, then veered into the path of the patrol unit," the Sheriff's Office stated in a news release.
