Rep. Miller Announces Winners for 2012 Congressional Art Competition

Of some 72 entries, five students in Michigan's 10th congressional district were recognized by Rep. Candice Miller, local judges and fans for their artistic talents.

U.S. Rep. Candice Miller (R-District 10) has announced the first, second, third and online “Fan Favorite” winners for this year’s Artistic Discovery art competition.  The Congressional Art Competition, created in 1982, honors high school students from each of the nation’s congressional districts. Miller Asks District 10 to Vote for Their 'Fan Favorite' High School Art

People can vote for their "fan favorite" student art, entered in the 2012 Congressional Art Competition, on U.S. Rep Candice Miller's Facebook page through May 16.

Even those who aren't old enough to vote in the November election can cast their vote for this year's "Fan Favorite" award among all of the student artwork submitted to the 2012 Congressional Art Competition. Created in 1982, the competition honors high school students from each of the nation’s congressional districts. The contest is open to all high school students, and this year features 72 pieces from Michigan’s 10th Congressional District, which includes Macomb Township. District 10 U.S. Rep. Candice Miller is hosting the competition on her Facebook page through May 16. All of this year's submissions can be found in a photo album and individuals are encouraged to vote for their favorite by clicking "like" on their "fan favorite" photo…

It would be pretty neat to know your artwork is on display at the U.S. Capitol, but I would think a small scholarship or something would be more appreciated by students. Thoughts?   more ›
