Passenger Accused of Pointing Gun During Macomb Township Road Rage Incident

Information for this crime brief was supplied by the Macomb County Sheriff's Office. Where arrests apply, they do not indicate convictions.

Two men were arrested Tuesday after one of them allegedly pointed a handgun at another driver during a road rage incident in Macomb Township, police said Thursday. At approximately 6:47 p.m., Macomb County Sheriff's deputies said they were called to the Hall and Hayes area after a motorist reported someone waved a handgun at him. They pulled over a 19-year-old Shelby Township man and his 20-year-old passenger from Virginia Beach, VA in the Hayes and 21 Mile area. When deputies approached the GMC Denali, they smelled marijuana. The men denied having a handgun. But when deputies searched the vehicle, they found a .40 caliber Smith and Wesson in the center console, the Sheriff's Office reports. The motorist who reported the incident told …

@John Nael.. I don't believe that anyone allegedly gets a gun pointed at them for no apparent reason. There are two sides to every story. Judging from your use of language in the comment you posted I would have to say there is more to it than just a random act stupidity.   more ›

Macomb Township Pedestrian Dies After Clinton Township Crash

A St. Clair Shores driver who struck the pedestrian Sunday night stayed on the scene.

A 27-year-old Macomb Township man died Sunday night in a Clinton Township accident, police said Monday morning. Around 11 p.m., a pickup truck crashed into the Macomb pedestrian on Hall Road near Dalcoma. The pickup driver, a 53-year-old St. Clair Shores man, stayed on the scene while the Macomb man was rushed to the hospital, according to Clinton Township police. Police reported that alcohol or speed did not appear to be a factor and no charges were filed against the driver by Monday. Witnesses are asked to call Clinton Township police to help their investigation. It's unknown why the pedestrian was in the eastbound Hall Road lanes at the time of the accident, Clinton Township Police Capt. Joseph Mertes said. "We're hoping someone can …

Macomb Road Rage Driver Accused of Swinging Bat

Information in this crime blotter was supplied by the Macomb County Sheriff's Office. Where arrests apply, they do not indicate convictions.

A road rage incident Wednesday quickly devolved into an attack with a baseball bat on one of the driver's vehicles in Macomb Township, according to a Macomb County Sheriff report. At approximately 3:40 p.m., a 29-year-old Macomb Township woman reported that she and a 30-year-old male, also from the township, exchanged insults and hand gestures while driving. The woman then followed the male driver to his home on Chevalier in Westbridge Manor Mobile Home Park, where he allegedly retrieved a baseball bat, according to the report. The woman told deputies that he pointed the bat at her face and then swung it at her car, causing damage. The man denied her accusations, telling deputies that he did not own a baseball bat. However, he was arrested…

Do trailers have garages? I thought everyone in a "mobile home park" parked in car ports or just parked outside. I just found it odd that the story said the officer found a bat in the corner of his garage in a "mobile home park". Clearly, he probably shouldn' t have taken a swing at her vehicle, but she had no business following him home. Also, maybe he doesn't "own" the baseball bat -- it may …   more ›

Burger King Outburst Leads to Macomb Man's 10th DUI Arrest

The Macomb Township man was arrested Tuesday night in the 23 Mile and Gratiot area in Chesterfield Township.

An obscenity-laced tirade in a Chesterfield Township drive-thru led to a Macomb Township man's tenth drunken driving arrest, police said Wednesday. Dennis Thoel, 66, could face up to five years imprisonment if convicted on a felony charge of third-offense operating while intoxicated--the maximum charge for that crime. Thoel was arraigned Wednesday in 42-2 District Court in New Baltimore and held in Macomb County Jail in lieu of a $25,000 cash bond, Chesterfield Township police said. His arrest stems from an incident at 10 p.m. Tuesday in the Burger King drive-thru in the 23 Mile and Gratiot area. Employees at the restaurant reported that Thoel appeared drunk and was yelling vulgarities at them, police said. When officers arrived, they …
