Tree lighting, Afterglow party mark the beginning of the holiday season for Macomb Township.
Macomb officially kicked off the holiday season last night by illuminating the township’s evergreen outside town hall during the eighth annual Tree Lighting and After Glow event. The evening, sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Department, started with Santa’s arrival on a firetruck, caroling, and the tree lighting. Lauren Davidson, a first grade student from Sequoyah Elementary School, was selected to help Santa light the tree. Before, though, Macomb Township Supervisor presented the key to the city to Santa Claus, who encouraged children to behave. The free event begins at 7 p.m. at the foot of Macomb Township Hall off 25 Mile Road. Caroling, crafts, and visits with Santa will follow indoors at the Rec Center.

Making its tree lighting a weekend-long event, The Mall at Partridge Creek will offer live music, apple cider and donuts, photos with Santa and more Nov. 10-11.
The Jolly Old Elf will make one of his first stops of the season next week at The Mall at Partridge Creek, capping off the mall's two-day tree lighting celebration by flipping the switch on more than 300,000 lights and a 42-foot tree.
