Bonjour! I am 18 years old and I just ran out of the halls of L'Anse Creuse High School-North where I've spent the past four years wishing to get out. This past year I was the head yerd (that's yearbook nerd, for all you newspaper people) for The Quest yearbook, and my junior year I was the copy editor. I also was the page seven focus editor for The North Star this year as well. I am a one-time award winning journalist; I took first place in division I at the MIPA spring awards conference in the reviews category for my review on Justin Bieber's autobiography (don't worry, I completely burned it! Literally...) Anyways, I have always had a love for all things english, reading, and writing. In elementary school I had a middle school reading level, and by the time they were testing our lexile scores in middle school I was already topping out with the highest scores. I've always said that Barnes & Noble was the second happiest place on earth, after Disney World of course! I not only love reading, but I'm good at it. That sounds silly, but I consider one of my greatest life accomplishments to be reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in six hours. (It's a 784 page book!) I've also been writing since I was very young. I have stacks of notebooks all over my room with creative, short stories filling them that I now look back on and laugh. In November of 2008 I participated in NanoWrimo (National Novel Writing Month: a challenge to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days.) I only hit 18,500 words, but I was pretty proud of what I accomplished! I've been interested in journalism since I walked in the doors of highschool and got my hands on one of The North Star issues, and made a promise to myself to end up being on one or both publications staffs: I did it, yay! This interest will be continued next year as I minor in journalism at Central Michigan University. If I didn't have my heart set on being an adolescent therapist, I would totally make journalism my life, but I do intend on writing at CMU next year, and earning myself at job at the music magazine Alt Press in the future!
