Macomb Man Injured After Chasing Intruder, Has Suspect Drive Him to Hospital

A 29-year-old Macomb Township found an intruder in his garage around 2 a.m. Sunday, got injured chasing him and then had the suspect drive him to the hospital when he returned to his car, according to police.

The bizarre incident took place after the homeowner walked into his garage on Ash Creek and found the 21-year-old Mount Clemens man standing there. He then yelled at the stranger, chased him and then fell to the ground, hurting his elbow, the Macomb County Sheriff's Office said. 

The homeowner walked home, where he saw a dark sedan parked in front of his with the driver's door open and engine running. He turned off the car and took the keys in his house, the Sheriff's Office said.

Soon after, the Mount Clemens man came to his door, asking for his car keys. He claimed he was in the man's garage because he thought it was his friend's home. The homeowner then told the suspect he would return his keys if he drove him to Henry Ford Hospital, the Sheriff's Office said. 

The suspect drove him to the hospital but refused to give him his name before leaving. When the homeowner returned home from the hospital, he realized a pair of speakers were missing from his garage, the Sheriff's Office said.

The homeowner told deputies he will need surgery for his elbow injury. Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
