Drive-In Theater Opens in Macomb for One-Night Show
The Macomb Township Parks and Recreation Department is hosting numerous free family fun nights throughout the summer, starting with a Movie Under the Stars on Tuesday, June 28.
The drive-in movie is a distant memory for many of us, but for one night next week, that memory will be alive and well in Macomb Township.
When we were kids, it was weekend routine to grab some friends, jump in the family station wagon and drive to the drive-in movie theater. There, we would sit on the hood of the car and watch a movie outside under the stars. Now our kids can have that same experience at Macomb Township's Park-It Family Fun Night on June 28.
Only this event is more than just watching a movie.

The event includes live entertainment with Main Street Drive, performing your favorite classic rock on stage, cartoon characters mingling with the crowd, bouncy house fun, face painting and more for an all-around great night free of charge.
Local businesses will be offering chances to win prizes, coupons and goodies, and the feature of the night will be a Movie Under the Stars (Megamind) starting at 8:15 p.m. in the .

But if you can't make the drive-in flick, Macomb Township Parks and Recreation offers many other activities and events throughout the summer.
"With gas prices so high, people don't need to drive for miles to create family smiles," said Michelle Duda, program director for Parks and Recreation. "Our motto is: Stay home in 'Macomb' for all your fabulous, free family fun!"
This fun includes Summer Concerts in the behind on Thursday evenings starting July 7 through July 28; and Rosco's Picnic Pallooza Series, which is held during lunch hours from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is always packed with fun things for kids to do.

Picnic Pallooza Series (Tuesdays, 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.)
June 28: Rosco the Clown & the "Cirque Amongus The Show," with audience participation, tightwire, rolling globe and juggling. Also happening that day, from 11-11:30 a.m. and from noon-1:30 p.m. is the Kids Yard Sale.
July 12: Rosco the Clown and Music from the Heart with Tammy Stone, who sings educational and creative songs.
July 19: Rosco's Carnival. Enjoy carnival games, prizes, inflatables and more, along with a visit from the Sheriff's Department, the Macomb Township Fire Department, and the Recreation Department's Freckle the Frog.
